Created without a publisher, it celebrates creative freedom and includes a custom-made variable font. The full piece appears only once—at his solo show in Plus One Gallery.

Project Information

This unique portfolio book brings together five years of work by artist Victor Verhelst. Designed by Corbin Mahieu, Lennart van den Bossche, and Victor Verhelst—together with Albe De Coker and Fedrigoni Worldwide—the project aims to blur the line between printmaking and art.

Books are often underestimated today. Where they were once seen as small artworks, they’re now easily dismissed as disposable. With this book, the designers wanted to go beyond a traditional coffee table object. Their goal was to celebrate the joy of creating freely—without the pressure of consumption or purpose.

Printed on new Fedrigoni paper using an innovative digital technique, the result is a nearly Pantone-level body of work spanning almost 500 pages from the young digital artist. To further elevate the book as an artwork, each copy is made unique.

The back cover of every book features a different fragment of a monumental piece that Victor created exclusively for this project. The complete work can only be seen when all books are placed together—a moment that will happen only once, during the opening of his solo show at Plus One Gallery.

To maintain full creative control, the team chose to work without a publisher—showing that with self-initiative, ambitious ideas can become reality.

The book launch becomes more than just a release—it’s a happening, a work of art in itself. We’re proud of the result and hope it serves as a lasting source of inspiration.

A custom font was created for the book by Ilya Koers, closely reflecting the work of Victor Verhelst. Alongside the classic version, Ilya developed a variable style made of pixels, adjustable via three sliders. This makes Antiku a dynamic and versatile typeface for diverse design applications.
