Summary»Politics of Love« is a digital publication that expanded the eponymous exhibition at Kunsthaus Hamburg. Its navigation functions as an autonomous, interactive network—where all elements are interwoven and mutually dependent. This non-hierarchical structure reflects the exhibition’s themes and allows a more open, connected, and multi-perspective way of exploring the content.
»Politics of Love« is a digital publication that expanded the same named exhibition at Kunsthaus Hamburg (30.11.2024–2.2.2025), which explored love as a transformative force for solidarity and connection in times of global crisis. It featured works by over 25 international artists and addressed themes such as intimacy, diversity, and collective action.
The navigation of the website works like an independent, interactive network. All elements within are interwoven and mutually dependent and form a dynamic structure that shows the exhibition’s vision of community and entanglement. There is no top-down hierarchy. Instead, the content unfolds in relation to the user’s path, encouraging exploration beyond linear or chronological reading.
This non-linear architecture supports a more fluid and multi-perspective engagement with the content. The five main chapters—Intro, Connectivity, Contexts, Artists, and Art-of-Peace Biennale—offer not only background and artworks, but also an interactive 3D space and media that go beyond what was shown in the physical exhibition.
Visually, the interface plays with contrasts: a bright, inviting homepage brings warmth and openness, while deep blue text spaces suggest reflection and seriousness. The navigation and 3D space add movement and complexity, yet a key goal was always to keep texts and content clear and easy to read. The design draws from visual clichés associated with love and peace but subverts them to create a layered, contemporary aesthetic.
»Politics of Love« translates curatorial ideas by Dr. Belinda Grace Gardner and Anna Nowak into design and interaction, extending the exhibition into a digital space.
