Art direction and design for Model/Actriz’ sophomore album “Pirouette” including vinyl and CD packaging, posters, and merch.

Our approach to the visual world of “Pirouette” consisted of equal parts digital tinkering and real-world capture. Our goal was to harken on the material ethos of the album which consisted of marble, flesh, metal, and light. We wanted the art to feel operatic and feminine while maintaining a subconscious carnal feel. We utilized macro photography of the blood vessels in our inner lips as well as scans of raw meat, fish scales and bones. We then combined these with miniature gate imagery (by Rusty Snyder) and composed digital “collages” with all of these pieces. We also wanted to mix a strong sans serif type lockup with wispy script moments to further push this abrasive yet delicate direction.
